Epoxy Potting Compound 111-047, Parts A & B
A Color Coded Version of Magnolia 3998, Parts A & B
DESCRIPTION
Magnolia's Compound 111-047, A and B is a potting system based on epoxy
resins. When cured, this compound forms a highly flexible seal which
protects electronic components even after repeated shocking from +250°F
to -40°F. Because 111-047 is made from materials which are 100%
reactive, there is very low weight loss and no tendency toward age
hardening.
Compound 111-047 is often used with medium silica sand to
reduce the cost of the potted unit. This system will remain fluid for
several days after the parts A and B are mixed together. This feature
along with the convenient 1:1 mix ratio will often eliminate the need
for expensive metering and dispensing equipment. Magnolia 111-047, A and B
is designed to be a color coded version of Magnolia 3998, A and B.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
1. Mix thoroughly 1 part by weight Part A with 1 part by weight
Part B.
2. Charge sand into unit until approximately 3/4 full.
3. (Optional) Preheat sand-filled component to 220°F-300°F.
Note: It is wise to preheat to a temperature above that which
is used for cure. This ensures a void free potting by
removing all residual volatiles.
4. Cure 1 to 2 hours at 250°F to 275°F.
