Magnoloop I, Parts A & B
DESCRIPTION
Magnoloop Sealers are the original epoxy compounds used for
sealing traffic control loops in highway pavements. These
products have been used since the late 1960's to protect loop
wire from water, salt, gasoline, oil, cuts, abrasion and
changes in temperature.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Magnoloop Sealer produces a hard surface that withstands
vehicular abuse but has internal toughness that protects the
wire. It bonds to both asphalt and concrete and acts like an
expansion joint compound when temperature changes cause the
pavement to move. Magnoloop I is very fluid and allows the user
to add dry sand to increase the coverage.
ADDITIONAL PRODUCTS
Magnoloop is available in two other grades. Magnoloop II does
not require a third ingredient. It is often dispensed through
automatic mixing equipment directly into the saw cut.
Magnoloop VI is a lower cost product than our other
sealers. It should be used where stress from freeze/thaw
cycles is not severe. Please request separate data sheets on
these items.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. A groove is cut into the pavement using a water cooled
diamond studded saw blade.
2. Magnoloop Sealer bonds best to dry surfaces. All water
should be removed from the groove by blowing it out with
compressed air.
3. The wire is then placed into the dry groove and connected
to the computer in a junction box set below grade near the
curbing.
4. Equal volumes of Magnoloop Sealer (Parts A & B) are
blended for two minutes minimum. Care must be taken to scrape the sides
and and bottom of the bucket as part of the mixing operation. It is extremely
important that the Sealer be thoroughly blended in exactly equal ratios. It
is especially important not to add more hardener (Part B) to increase cure rate
as this will prevent the Sealer from setting properly. Do not add solvents or
thinners of any kind.
5. An equal volume of sand can be added to Magnoloop I. The sand
is added after the A and B components are mixed.
6. When the mix is completed, transfer it into smaller paper cups for
pouring into the wire-filled groove until pavement is reached. A squeegee bent into
a "V" shape will help direct Sealer into the groove.
7. Epoxy is very sensitive to temperatures. Cool weather causes the
epoxy to be thicker and much slower to cure. Less sand should be added when the temperature
is cool. When warm, the Sealer will react very quickly.

ESTIMATOR GUIDE
This estimator guide can be used to determine the amount of
Magnoloop I needed for various size saw cuts. The quantities
given are for one gallon of Magnoloop I mixture and an equal volume
of sand. Sand must be added to obtain the desired results. Depending
on the grade or size of sand used, one gallon of Magnoloop I and one
gallon of dry sand will be approximately 1.6 gallons of mixed material.
